I suppose it is high time to mention my new business and how we got here! Now that it's Trail Mix for Three, we decided that it was best that I stay home with our sweet girl and work on building up my jewelry business. We weighed the pros and cons and we both knew that I would be happier in a more creative position...and I am! I am having so much fun being able to watch our little girl grow up and being able to create new products every day. So, here is the story behind Green End and how it came to be...
Passion for painting, drawing, creating, and the arts have always been the driving force in my life. When I was little, my mom brought home the book What Makes a Van Gogh a Van Gogh and from that point on, my mere interest in drawing became a lifelong love affair with art. Throughout the rest of my life thus far, many of the most amazingly beautiful moments I can remember have been those where I have witnessed great works of art in person. Art is a religion to me as it moves so many people in so many different ways. From viewing my first Van Gogh to the Belvedere Torso to the Rothko Chapel, I have been brought to tears by their beauty. I, too, want to create beauty in the world.
Not only did my mom cultivate my creative side, but my whole family has always inspired me to create. My mom and dad both briefly painted and, despite what they say, they are pretty darn good! My grandma (Grandmama) painted beautiful watercolors and taught me how to use them. My grandpa painted landscapes and made beautiful Southwestern jewelry, working largely with silver and turquoise. "Katie the Frog," is what he used to call me and I would tease him with the nickname "Old Man." We had a particularly special bond. It was not until recently that I realized just how much like him that I have become.

Late one night, Green End came about as small idea that I wanted to create my own jewelry. Just an "ah-ha!" moment where I decided that I wanted to create beautiful things like my grandfather.
The name "Green End" simply comes from a street name that leads to one of my favorite places in the world. Rhode Island has always been a home to me and it is there where I am usually most inspired. With protected lands of wild greenery, countless hydrangea fluffs, deep navy blue water, wild thistle swaying to and fro, and "the way of the island" feel, life is pretty colorful there. In short, it is my family's "happy place." It will always be home.
So, please, if you need gifts or jewelry for your own collection, don't hesitate to shop around my little store on Etsy. Also, be on the lookout for more posts about upcoming endeavors of mine, like wedding dress portraits....
